Andrew Ridgeley reflects on relief after leaving Wham! fame

Andrew Ridgeley, the 63‑year‑old former member of Wham!, said it was an "immense relief" not to be subjected to daily media scrutiny since the duo split in 1986. He recalled a “very antagonistic relationship” with the press, describing youthful indiscretions that were photographed but never led to police involvement.

Ridgeley contrasted his approach with that of his late bandmate George Michael, who was more cautious about media exposure and kept his sexuality private until 1998. The pair’s famous 1985 tour of China is highlighted in a new documentary, and Ridgeley expressed nostalgia for the close friendship they shared during those years.
