Andrew Schulz sparks controversy at The Game Awards

During The Game Awards 2025, actor and comedian Andrew Schulz sparked viral controversy with a joke directed at the cast of the upcoming Mortal Kombat II film. While promoting the forthcoming Street Fighter movie, in which Schulz plays Dan Hibiki, he staged a fake introduction for the Mortal Kombat cast, claiming they had traveled globally to show appreciation for fans.

Schulz then pivoted to claim the Mortal Kombat cast was not actually present and suggested they “only care about money,” contrasting them with the Street Fighter team. While Schulz later clarified the comments were a scripted promotional stunt intended to mimic professional wrestling-style rivalries, the moment drew criticism from some fans and actors, including Lewis Tan, who expressed disapproval of the remarks on stage.
