Andrey Gyurov cites Greek military support in diplomatic plea

Bulgarian presidential candidate Andrey Gyurov has called for more effective use of diplomacy to protect national interests, citing a past instance of military cooperation with Greece as a model.

Gyurov recalled a period when Bulgaria faced a significant threat and requested assistance from Greece. In response to high-level coordination, Greece provided a Patriot missile defense battery and two F-16 fighter jets to support Bulgaria and the NATO southeastern flank. He emphasized that diplomacy is only meaningful when it leads to concrete actions and results.

In his current campaign, Gyurov warned that Bulgaria is facing acute hybrid attacks, particularly following incidents involving merchant ships in the Black Sea. He criticized the government's perceived lack of timely and adequate responses, arguing that European and regional diplomatic channels must be actively utilized to secure tangible support from international partners.
