Andria and Irpinia communities issue pact to address economic crisis

Communities in Southern Italy are mobilizing to address escalating economic distress affecting farmers, transporters, and students. In Andria, a formal pact was established following a large public mobilization involving thousands of citizens, entrepreneurs, and workers. The pact outlines specific demands for political decision-makers, including measures to alleviate economic pressure on families and businesses, interventions regarding extra virgin olive oil prices to manage stocks, and a declaration of a state of crisis to facilitate easier credit access.

Simultaneously, the Irpinia Costituente group has launched a solidarity manifesto. This initiative supports the struggles of agricultural workers and haulers seeking fair production prices and sustainable fuel costs, while also aligning with student movements defending the right to education. The movement emphasizes the need to address the economic divide and depopulation in Southern Italy, calling for institutional dialogue and concrete solutions rather than unfulfilled promises.
