Flamengo manages squad transitions and scouting departures

Flamengo is undergoing significant personnel changes as it plans for future seasons. The club has reached an agreement for its scouting chief, Andrii Fedchenkov, to join Liverpool in January 2027. The 30-year-old Ukrainian specialist, who has worked extensively in South American, European, and Asian markets, will complete his current commitment with Flamengo through December 2026.

On the pitch, the club is prioritizing contract stability. Negotiations are advanced for defender Léo Pereira to extend his stay until December 2029, while striker Pedro remains a primary target for future extensions. Additionally, the club has moved toward renewing the contract of veteran defender Danilo, who previously scored the goal securing the Copa Libertadores title.

Regarding tactical adjustments, head coach Leonardo Jardim noted that recent signing Joaquín Freitas, while performing well, operates more as a ‘false 9’ rather than a direct replacement for center-forward Pedro. The club continues to evaluate its offensive structure as it prepares for upcoming competitions.
