Andrija Bajić memorial service held at Belgrade's New Cemetery

Family and close friends gathered at the New Cemetery in Belgrade to observe the 40-day memorial service for Andrija Bajić, a prominent figure in Yugoslav folk music. Bajić passed away in July at the age of 89.

Bajić was part of the renowned duo ‘Braća Bajić’ alongside his brother Tomislav. The duo was highly influential in the Serbian folk music scene, releasing 43 singles and 28 long-play albums over a 50-year career. They are credited with composing numerous traditional-style songs and kolos, including ‘Kolubarski vez’.

During the service, Bajić’s widow, Mala Cana, arrived toward the end of the ceremony. Witnesses reported emotional scenes as she approached the grave, where she was visibly distraught while mourning her husband.
