Andrija Bajić funeral held in Belgrade, attended by family and Serbian celebrities

Serbian folk singer Andrija Bajić, who died on 7 July 2026 at the age of 89, was laid to rest on 16 July 2026 at the New Cemetery in Belgrade, in the Avenue of Distinguished Citizens. His wife Svetlana Tomić, known as “Mala Cana”, delivered an emotional eulogy, saying, “Čekaj me” (“Wait for me”) and recalling his lifelong support.

The ceremony was attended by Bajić’s children, grandchildren, and close friends, as well as a host of entertainment figures, including singers Era Ojdanić and Hasan Dudić, harmonica player Mirko Kodić, TV host Milan Kalinić, actress Milena Plavšić, performer Atina Ferari and singer‑violinist Vivien Kurtović. A minor dispute was noted when Bajić’s widow requested that two sheaves of wheat be placed at the service, prompting comments from Ojdanić about the appropriateness of the request.
