Andrija Mandić calls for environmental consensus in Montenegro
Montenegrin Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić emphasized the importance of environmental protection during an event marking 35 years since Montenegro was declared an ecological state. Addressing the closing of EU Chapter 27, Mandić stated that ecological policy must be a matter of state responsibility and consensus, noting that decisions regarding natural resources and spatial planning have long-term consequences that transcend political mandates.
In a separate domestic development, Podgorica Deputy Mayor Nađa Ljiljanić expressed concerns regarding the potential failure of the capital city's budget for the upcoming year. She noted that without consensus between the ruling majority and the opposition, the city might face temporary financing, which she described as the worst outcome for citizens. Ljiljanić called for a broad consensus to ensure essential infrastructure and social projects are funded.
Additionally, the Parliament organized a humanitarian waterbike challenge to promote sustainable tourism and healthy lifestyles, celebrating the nation's ecological heritage through sport and solidarity.
