Andriy Sybiha calls for EU entry bans on Russian combatants
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has called for the European Union to implement immediate entry bans for Russian combatants and their family members to protect European security. Sybiha argued that the EU must ‘close its doors to Russians right now’ to counter the actions of Vladimir Putin.
Sybiha noted that countries like Estonia have already implemented similar national-level measures. He advocated for a unified EU decision to restrict non-essential visas for Russian citizens and to limit the free movement of Russian diplomats, citing an increase in both hybrid and direct attacks against Europe. He emphasized that any Russian man recruited to fight against Ukraine should face a ban from entering Europe and the rest of the world upon signing a contract with the occupying army.
