Andriy Sybiha honors Ukraine's fallen defenders

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha issued a message on August 29 to mark the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine. The day honors those who died for the country's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Sybiha noted that August 29 carries a painful memory of the 2014 Battle of Ilovaisk. He emphasized that the fallen warriors gave their lives to ensure Ukraine's right to self-determination and existence as a sovereign state.

The Minister highlighted the importance of foreign leaders and officials paying respects to the fallen during their visits to Ukraine, stating that such acts allow visitors to see both the nation's strength and the high price paid for freedom. Sybiha added that the remembrance serves as a message to the world regarding the origins of the war and the necessity for peace to bring justice and accountability rather than rewarding aggression.
