Android 17 QPR1 introduces unexpected status bar icon changes

The stable release of Android 17 QPR1 has introduced unexpected changes to the status bar icons on Google Pixel devices. Most notably, the icon used to indicate silent or mute mode has reverted from a crossed-out speaker to a bell with a diagonal line. This change appears to be a regression, as Google had previously replaced the bell icon with the speaker icon starting with Android 14.

It remains unclear if this modification was intentional or an accidental inclusion in the final code, as the bell icon did not appear during the Android 17 QPR1 beta cycle and only emerged with the stable OTA release. Additionally, the VPN icon has been updated to a thicker, filled-in design.

Beyond icon changes, the update includes customizable haptic feedback for different ringtones and notifications, as well as a redesigned wallpaper selector with more rounded graphics. The Android 17 QPR1 update is not yet available for the Pixel 11 series.
