Android 17 rollout status and Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 update cycle

Following the June 2026 release of Android 17, various manufacturers are deploying the update to their devices at different speeds. Google's Pixel series received the update first, followed by Xiaomi in July and Motorola in August. While Samsung has begun updating its high-end and newest models, manufacturers such as Oppo, Realme, and OnePlus are expected to roll out the update to their initial models by late October 2026.

For Samsung's Galaxy Tab S9 series, including the S9, S9+, S9 Ultra, and the FE models, the transition to One UI 9 based on Android 17 will mark the final major operating system upgrade. This fulfills Samsung's commitment to four generations of OS updates for these devices, which launched with Android 13 in 2023. Although major version jumps will cease after Android 17, Samsung is expected to continue providing regular security patches for the Tab S9 lineup until 2028.
