Android 17 update triggers orientation bug; Volla launches Google‑free smartphone

German company Volla Systeme has introduced a smartphone and tablet that run a proprietary, Google‑free version of Android built on the open‑source Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The devices replace standard Google apps with curated open‑source alternatives, offer an optional Volla Cloud that operates without a central data center, and include a security mode that can block trackers and restrict internet connections, emphasizing privacy and user control.
