Android Auto: Fixes for disappearing apps and navigation features
Android Auto users may encounter issues with disappearing apps and inconsistent navigation data. To prevent apps from vanishing from the dashboard, users should adjust smartphone battery settings. On many Android devices, particularly Samsung models, the battery management system may automatically deactivate or put unused apps into deep sleep to save resources, causing them to disappear from the Android Auto launcher. Disabling the “automatically deactivate unused apps” setting in the device's battery management menu can resolve this.
Additionally, Google has addressed why certain navigation features, such as speedometers, speed limits, and traffic light indicators, may not always be visible in Google Maps via Android Auto. These features are currently undergoing a phased rollout. While they are fully available when an active navigation route is set, their availability during free driving without a fixed destination is still being expanded to all users.
