Android Auto to support Work Profiles and new interface layouts
Google is reportedly working on integrating Work Profiles into the Android Auto interface. Evidence suggests a new ‘Work Mode’ quick-settings tile may allow users to access professional applications and notifications separately from their personal smartphone environment while driving.
This feature would enable separate app instances to run independently of a user's personal profile, potentially allowing for better management of work-related communications, such as Google Meet, directly through the vehicle's infotainment system.
Separately, recent Android Auto updates have altered the user interface for some drivers, specifically those with wide displays, by moving the taskbar from the bottom of the screen to the side. While users cannot revert the taskbar to its original position, they can adjust the layout via settings to place media or navigation controls closer to the driver to improve accessibility.
