Android Auto users in Germany encounter Spotify block and new popup design

Some Android Auto users in Germany reported that Spotify suddenly stops working in the system, showing a warning that a newer Android Auto version is required even though the app is already up‑to‑date. A temporary workaround involves playing a song before the phone connects to the vehicle, after which the error reappears. The root cause has not been identified and could lie with either Spotify or Android Auto software.

Google has also rolled out a redesign of the incident‑report pop‑ups shown in Android Auto’s Maps app. The new notifications appear for only a few seconds, offer a Yes/No response, and can be dismissed manually, reducing screen obstruction and driver distraction. The change aims to improve traffic safety, especially on routes with many construction zones.
