The app stores sent copies of media in a hidden "sent" folder and keeps daily local backup files in the Databases folder (e.g., "msgstore‑date.db.crypt"). Deleting outdated files in these directories, using a file manager such as Google Files, can recover between 2 GB and 10 GB of space. Deleted chats can also be restored within seven days by reinstalling the app, or older backups can be restored by swapping the current database file with an older copy.

Galaxy smartphones can be forced to reboot when completely unresponsive. Pressing the power button and volume‑down key together for about seven seconds triggers a hard reset, bypassing the normal shutdown menu. If the device frequently freezes, users should check available storage, apply software updates, and scan for malware.
