Andromeda Metals signs HPA supply agreement with Traxys for US market
Andromeda Metals has signed a non-binding heads of agreement with Traxys North America to advance the supply of high purity alumina (HPA) into the United States market. The agreement establishes a framework for a potential five-year sales agency arrangement targeting an annual volume of 2,000 tonnes of HPA.
Based on indicative pricing of US$20,000 per tonne, the deal represents potential annual sales of approximately US$40 million. Traxys is a global commodity trader appointed under the US Government’s Project Vault initiative, which aims to support critical minerals procurement and reduce reliance on China, which currently accounts for roughly 75% of global HPA production capacity.
The collaboration is intended to meet growing US demand for HPA in sectors such as lithium-ion batteries, energy storage, and semiconductors. Andromeda Metals, an Australian company, has already achieved 4N+ (99.99%) HPA production and is currently conducting pilot-scale testwork.
