Andros International Sailing Race begins in Greece

The 59th Ioannis B. Goulandris International Sailing Race of Andros has officially commenced. The event began in the waters of Vouliagmeni, with 16 crews, including Olympians and world champions, participating in the competition.

The first leg of the race covers 72 nautical miles, heading toward the town of Andros. A critical and challenging segment of the course involves navigating the Kafireas Strait, a stretch of water known for its difficulty.

Organized by the Andros Nautical Club and the Hellenic Nautical Club, the race was established in 1967 by Ioannis B. Goulandris to promote a passion for sailing. The start was officiated by Deputy Minister of Sports Giannis Vroutsis, along with Philippos Stratos and Ioanna Stratou.
