Andros rider fined for intoxication; Aigaleo man arrested for arson

In Andros, a man was fined 700 euros and had nine points deducted from his driver's license after being found intoxicated while riding a horse. The incident occurred following a complaint from a couple alleging animal abuse, which the rider claims was false. During a police check, he tested positive for alcohol with a level of 0.71 mg/L. The Greek Road Traffic Code requires animal handlers to be fully capable of controlling animals and to use visible lighting when moving them at night.

In Aigaleo, a Pakistani national was arrested for intentional arson. Authorities report that the man used a lighter to start three separate fires in dry grass at the intersection of Kifisou and Athinon avenues. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing crackdown on arson, with the Fire Service noting that since January 1, 2026, hundreds of arrests and significant fines have been issued for various fire-related offenses.
