Andros Townsend escapes injury after being run over by pitch roller
Former England international Andros Townsend narrowly escaped serious injury after being run over by a heavy pitch roller during a warm-up in Thailand. The incident occurred during a Thai League 1 match between Townsend’s club, PT Prachuap FC, and Pattani FC.
Speaking on Piers Morgan’s ‘Football Uncensored’, the 35-year-old described the moment as “terrifying,” noting that he feared for his previously operated ankle and knee. Townsend managed to relieve some pressure with his arm and was eventually freed by teammates. Despite the scare, he sustained only minor bumps and bruises and was able to enter the match as a late substitute in Prachuap’s 3-0 victory.
Following the incident, Townsend shared on social media that he relied on a specific diet—including items such as slow-cooked chicken feet, eggs, and olive oil—to aid his recovery and manage pain without medication.
