André‑Pierre Gignac plays in Monterrey veterans league after Tigres retirement
French striker André‑Pierre Gignac, who spent more than a decade as Tigres UANL’s leading scorer and helped the club win five Liga MX titles, the 2020 CONCACAF Champions League and reach the 2020 Club World Cup final, announced his departure from the Mexican side at the end of the 2025‑26 season.
Weeks after his exit, Gignac surprised fans by appearing in a local veterans football match in Monterrey, wearing the jersey of the URBAN 202 team in the Liga de Veteranos de Medicina. The appearance, shared on social media, was described as a way for the retired forward to stay active while the club searches for new attacking options.
His brief comeback coincides with Tigres’ ongoing recruitment drive, following the loss of both Gignac and fellow forward Ángel Correa.
