András Fekete-Győr completes probation for suspended sentence
András Fekete-Győr, the founder of the Momentum Movement, has completed a two-year probation period following a suspended one-year prison sentence. The conviction stemmed from a 2018 demonstration against the ‘slave law,’ during which Fekete-Győr used a smoke bomb.
Fekete-Győr characterized the legal proceedings as politically motivated by the Orbán administration. He noted that the case had a significant impact on his family, including his father losing his position at the National Deposit Insurance Fund. Despite the legal challenges, he stated that the experience strengthened his political resolve.
Following the conviction, Fekete-Győr established the Foundation for the Politically Persecuted to support individuals he believes are targeted for political reasons. He also launched the ‘Half a Million Youth for Change’ movement to mobilize young voters for the 2026 elections. He has announced that he will reveal his specific political role and future plans on Monday, October 19.
