Andrés García Ibáñez completes Apocalypse painting cycle in Almería

Painter Andrés García Ibáñez has completed a monumental series of religious paintings in the hermitage of El Saliente in Albox, Almería. The work is notable for being the only church in Christendom featuring a complete pictorial cycle dedicated to the Apocalypse.

Over a two-year period, the artist covered approximately 198 square meters of surface area, including the main dome, the central apse, and two lateral apses. The project, which illuminates a temple that had remained unpainted since its construction in the late 18th century, was inspired by musical elements such as Beethoven’s ‘Missa Solemnis’.
