Andrés Guacurarí monument vandalized in Carmelo

A monument dedicated to Andrés Guacurarí in Plaza Artigas, Carmelo, has been targeted by vandals. The damage includes a broken nose on the sculpture and a defaced identification plaque.

Inaugurated in June 2022, the bust was a collaborative cultural project between the Rotary Club of Carmelo in Uruguay and the Rotary Club of Villa Lanús in Misiones, Argentina. The monument serves as a symbol of the historical ties between the two nations and the figures associated with the history of Misiones and Artiguism.
