Andy López Beltrán denies fuel smuggling allegations

Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, a Morena political aspirant for a federal deputy seat in Tabasco, has denied all allegations linking him to 'huachicol fiscal' (tax fuel smuggling). He stated that he does not own any companies involved in the import or commercialization of fuels and characterized the accusations as a political campaign intended to damage the reputation of his father, former President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the Morena movement.

López Beltrán argued that the accusations lack evidence and claimed that the fuel smuggling issue originated during the administration of Enrique Peña Nieto following energy reforms. He noted that during his father's presidency, such import authorizations were actually restricted.

In addition to addressing the legal allegations, López Beltrán acknowledged that his father's surname serves as a 'key' that facilitates his political outreach and access to citizens during his tours in Tabasco. This admission has sparked debate on social media, with users contrasting his political aspirations against past statements made by his father regarding the inheritance of public offices.
