Andrés Manuel López Beltrán implicated in Mexican fuel smuggling probe

Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has been implicated by a cooperating witness in a federal investigation into 'huachicol fiscal' (tax-related fuel smuggling).

A retired Navy captain, acting as a protected witness for the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), testified that López Beltrán’s name was allegedly used to facilitate the departure of a tanker vessel, the Torm Agnes, from Guaymas, Sonora, in March 2025. The vessel was reportedly transporting diesel documented as oil additives to evade import taxes.

Further testimonies suggest López Beltrán may have coordinated actions involving the illegal importation of tons of fuel from the United States. Investigators are reportedly examining financial links, including a money transfer from a company involved in undocumented fuel billing to an individual within López Beltrán’s inner circle during his time as a high-ranking official in the Morena party. The investigation involves a network of over 500 companies and potential links to the CJNG cartel.
