Andrés Manuel López Beltrán says house‑to‑house visits are informational, not campaign

Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador and national counselor for the Morena party, posted a video denying that his recent door‑to‑door visits in Tabasco constitute anticipatory campaign activity for the 2027 federal election. He said the trips, carried out in the VI electoral district covering the municipalities of Centro, Teapa and Jalapa, are intended to inform citizens and distribute copies of the party’s newspaper Regeneración.

Opposition groups, including Juntos por Tabasco, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and Somos México, have accused López Beltrán of using the visits for personal promotion and announced plans to file legal complaints, alleging a breach of electoral law. López Beltrán maintains the visits are part of his duties as a Morena counselor, a role he retained after resigning from an administrative party post in June.

He urged critics to “learn from the experience,” emphasizing that the initiative follows a political tradition promoted by his father and is aimed solely at providing information to the electorate.
