Andrés Mendoza criticizes Piero Quispe's return to Universitario

Former Peruvian national team player Andrés Mendoza has criticized Piero Quispe’s decision to return to Universitario from abroad. Mendoza expressed skepticism regarding the 24-year-old midfielder's current level following his stints with Pumas UNAM in Mexico and Sydney FC in Australia.

During the sports program Tinbet, Mendoza suggested that Quispe’s return to the Peruvian league might signal the end of his international career aspirations. He argued that the player lacks the talent required for European football and predicted that his three-year contract with Universitario will keep him in the local league indefinitely, potentially limiting future moves to only ‘exotic’ destinations.

Mendoza also noted reports from Mexico suggesting Quispe was poorly received during his time at Pumas UNAM. While Quispe has been training normally under manager Héctor Cúper, his immediate playing time remains to be seen, though he may be called up for the upcoming match against FC Cajamarca.
