Andrzej Łaskarz commemorated on 600th anniversary of death

Events were held in Gosławicach to commemorate the 600th anniversary of the death of Andrzej Łaskarz (1362–1426), the Bishop of Poznań and a prominent medieval diplomat. The commemorations included a lecture titled ‘Between the Altar and Great Politics: Andrzej Łaskarzyc in Service of the King and the Church’ and an outdoor exhibition titled ‘Bishop Andrzej Łaskarz (1362–1426). In Service of State and Church’.

Łaskarz was a highly educated figure, holding a doctorate in law from the University of Padua. He is recognized for his significant role in Polish-Teutonic diplomacy and his architectural legacy, including the castle and the St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Gosławicach. The city of Konina has designated 2026 as the Year of Bishop Andrzej Łaskarz to honor his historical contributions.
