Andrzej Lebiediew contests exclusion after crash in Vojens

A serious crash occurred during the third heat of the Speedway Grand Prix in Vojens, Denmark, involving riders Andrzej Lebiediew and Frederik Jakobsen. During the second corner of the first lap, Lebiediew maneuvered his machine to maintain position on the curb, causing a collision that sent Jakobsen flying over his handlebars. Jakobsen was subsequently struck by Lebiediew’s motorcycle, though he was able to stand up and return to the pits on his own strength.

Following the incident, race officials excluded Lebiediew from the heat. The Latvian rider expressed intense frustration with the decision, contacting referee Craig Ackroyd via telephone to contest the ruling. Lebiediew criticized the current regulations, describing them as being ‘written on the knee’ and arguing that a leading rider has the right to defend their position on the curb, even if it forces the following rider to react to the change in speed and line. Despite the exclusion and the crash, both riders continued their participation in the event.
