Andrzej Lepper: Precursor of Polish political sovereignty
On the 15th anniversary of the death of Andrzej Lepper, the founder and leader of the Samoobrona party, analyses have emerged regarding his role as a precursor to sovereignty in Polish politics.
Lepper was a critic of the neoliberal transformation and advocated for the sovereignty of Polish politics. He proposed a revision of the privatizations that occurred in the 1990s, suggesting that a special commission should investigate whether foreign buyers fulfilled their obligations, such as maintaining employment levels or making specific investments. If obligations were not met, he argued that the privatization should be annulled and assets returned to the State Treasury.
Additionally, Lepper believed a sovereign state should not permit certain practices by foreign military or intelligence services on its territory.
