Andrzej Lepper’s 15th Anniversary Prompts Son’s Call for Probe and Memorial

The 15th anniversary of former Samoobrona leader and ex‑deputy prime minister Andrzej Lepper’s death was marked by his son, Tomasz Lepper, who rejected the official ruling of suicide. Lepper, who was found dead in the party headquarters in Warsaw in August 2011, says his father was the victim of a political persecution and accuses PiS politicians Maciej Wąsik and Mariusz Kamiński, as well as former minister Waldemar Żurek and President Karol Nawrocki.

Tomasz Lepper wrote to President Nawrocki requesting a posthumous decoration for his father but says he has received no reply. He also founded the Andrzej Lepper Heritage Foundation to preserve his legacy, seeks a monument, and calls for state compensation for the family. Memorial services, including a mass in Krupy near Darłowo, were held to honour Lepper’s memory.
