Anduril considers European production for Steelfin interceptor missiles

US defense technology firm Anduril Industries is considering manufacturing its newly unveiled Steelfin interceptor missiles in Europe. The company aims to address global shortages of air-defense interceptors caused by conflicts in Ukraine and the Gulf, which have strained existing stocks and caused delivery delays.

Brian Moran, Anduril’s vice president for Europe, indicated interest in collaborating with Polish customers and industry partners. The company is already in discussions with Poland’s state-owned arms group, PGZ, regarding the production of its Barracuda-500 cruise missile, an experience that could facilitate future projects like Steelfin.

Steelfin is designed to serve as a more affordable, complementary system to established platforms such as the Patriot missile system. The interceptor is scheduled to undergo flight testing in 2027.
