Anduril founder says US delay on Taiwan arms sales impacts business

Palmer Luckey, founder of defense technology firm Anduril, has stated that the United States government's delay in approving a $14 billion arms package for Taiwan is negatively impacting his company's business operations. Speaking in Taipei, Luckey noted that the stalled deal prevents continued progress in other areas of their partnership with Taiwan.

President Donald Trump has held the arms package in abeyance, describing it as a “very good negotiating chip” following a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The delay is viewed by some as a strategic move in broader geopolitical negotiations with Beijing.

Anduril has already faced consequences from China, which sanctioned both the company and Luckey personally in December 2025 due to previous arms sales to Taiwan. Despite these sanctions, the company remains active in the region, having recently participated in a contract where Taiwan acquired approximately $847 million worth of Altius systems in August 2026.
