Anduril unveils Steelfin missile family and explores European production

Anduril Industries has announced Steelfin, a new family of high-speed, configurable surface-to-air missiles designed to counter hypersonic vehicles, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats. The system utilizes a modular two-stage design, featuring a customizable first-stage booster and a common second-stage interceptor airframe to improve manufacturing efficiency and scalability. The missiles are designed to integrate with existing land- and sea-based infrastructure, such as the Mk 41 Vertical Launch System.

In a move to support European clients, Anduril is considering manufacturing the Steelfin missiles in Europe. This follows existing industrial cooperation in Poland regarding the Barracuda-500M missile, which involves agreements with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze. Poland aims to transition from a mere purchaser of U.S. military hardware to a hub for assembly and production to bolster its domestic defense industry and technological sovereignty. Flight testing for the Steelfin system is expected to begin in 2027.
