SWR cancels ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ after 31 years
The long-running German Schlager show ‘Immer wieder sonntags’ is being discontinued after 31 years. SWR announced the cancellation due to the broadcaster's economic situation and necessary budget cuts.
Singer and presenter Andy Borg expressed deep emotional distress over the decision, comparing the end of the show to ‘a family breaking apart.’ Borg, who previously lost his own show ‘Musikantenstadl’ in 2015, offered his support to host Stefan Mross and indicated he may attend the final broadcast on September 13.
In addition to the show's cancellation, Borg voiced strong criticism regarding the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence in the music industry. He noted that he is receiving more demo recordings that are entirely AI-generated, stating that it is frustrating when music is ‘constructed rather than composed’ and noting that the perfection of AI products can make them difficult to distinguish from human work.
