Andy Buchanan prepares for Sydney Marathon

Australian marathoner Andy Buchanan enters the Sydney Marathon this Sunday as the leading local contender. Buchanan, a former Olympian and former Australian marathon record holder, is seeking to regain his form following a period of injury and a recent loss of his record to Haftu Strintzos.

Buchanan recently built confidence with a victory at the City2Surf, a hilly 14km race. Despite the challenging, elevated course in Sydney, Buchanan expressed confidence in his ability to handle the terrain, noting his training base in Bendigo has prepared him for climbing.

The Sydney Marathon features an elite international field, including world champion Alphonce Simbu and defending champion Hailemaryam Kiros. The event is one of seven world majors and expects approximately 40,000 runners.
