Prime Minister Andy Burnham appears on Celebrity Gogglebox

Prime Minister Andy Burnham became the first British leader to appear on a celebrity edition of Channel 4’s Gogglebox. Appearing alongside Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram for a Stand Up To Cancer special, Burnham reacted to various television programs, including Only Connect and The Celebrity Traitors.

During the broadcast, Burnham made lighthearted remarks about the upcoming Budget and the Royal household, while also expressing emotional reactions to stories regarding the impact of cancer. He defended his participation against criticism from Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch, who questioned the timing of the appearance. Burnham stated he would ‘make no apology’ for the segment, noting his desire to ‘lead with a bit of lightness’ and his pride in supporting the Stand Up To Cancer charity.

Political speculation also surrounds the administration's next steps, with discussions regarding potential Chancellor appointments and the fiscal constraints facing the upcoming Budget under John Healey.
