Andy Burnham visits Wigan & Leigh Hospice to discuss funding

Prime Minister Andy Burnham visited the Wigan & Leigh Hospice in Hindley to meet with patients, staff, and volunteers. During the visit, he was presented with over 170 messages from local residents as part of the ‘Dear Prime Minister’ campaign, which advocates for more sustainable and fairer funding for hospice services.

The hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care across the Wigan borough. The visit highlights ongoing financial pressures facing hospices nationwide, with Burnham previously stating that “the state has to play its part properly” regarding adequate funding for such services.
