Andy Carroll reveals sexual assault in new autobiography

In his new autobiography, ‘Owning It’, former England striker Andy Carroll has disclosed that he was the victim of a sexual assault in 2021 while playing for Newcastle United. Carroll stated the incident occurred at his home and involved a friend of his former partner. Following the assault, Carroll confronted the individual, who was subsequently convicted of sexual offenses and sentenced to three years in prison.

Carroll noted that the experience profoundly impacted his mental health and his ability to focus on football. He expressed that while speaking publicly about the trauma was difficult, he hoped his transparency might help others.

Additionally, Carroll reflected on his time at Liverpool FC, describing a lack of cohesion in the dressing room. He revealed that former teammate Joe Cole frequently ignored him during their time at Anfield. Carroll later learned from Cole that the silence was due to Cole’s own professional dissatisfaction and low morale at the club during that period.
