Ballando con le stelle: Jimmy Ghione faces tough debut
The new season of Rai1’s dance competition, Ballando con le stelle, has commenced with notable performances from its contestants. Jimmy Ghione, a former reporter for ‘Striscia la Notizia’, faced a difficult debut. Performing a boogie with partner Anastasia Kuzmina, Ghione received a total of 16 points. The judging panel was largely critical; Barbara d’Urso compared his movements to the character Gabibbo, while Alberto Matano described the performance as “grande caos” (great chaos). Other judges, including Carolyn Smith and Ivan Zazzaroni, noted technical shortcomings despite his energetic presence.
Also participating in the competition is Andy Díaz Hernández, an Olympic triple jump bronze medalist. Originally from Cuba and now an Italian citizen, Díaz is transitioning from professional athletics to the dance floor, performing alongside instructor Gioia Giovanatti. His participation marks a significant shift from his sporting career, where he has achieved international success, including an Italian record and European championship gold.
