Mets and Red Sox name Andy Green and Chad Tracy permanent managers

The New York Mets and Boston Red Sox have both removed the interim tags from their managers, signing them to multi-year deals following successful mid-season turnarounds.

Andy Green has been named the permanent manager of the New York Mets, signing a three-year contract through the 2029 season. Green, 49, took over in late June following the dismissal of Carlos Mendoza. Under Green’s leadership, the Mets recorded a 37-38 record, showing improvement after the All-Star break. Mets owners Steve and Alex Cohen praised Green for bringing discipline, accountability, and positivity to the clubhouse.

Similarly, the Boston Red Sox have appointed Chad Tracy as their full-time manager. Tracy, 41, signed a three-year contract through 2029, with a club option for 2030. Tracy assumed the role in April after the firing of Alex Cora and led the team to a 74-55 record, including a franchise-tying 15-game winning streak. This performance secured a wild-card postseason berth for Boston. The Red Sox also exercised contract options for chief baseball officer Craig Breslow through 2030 to ensure organizational stability.
