Andy Lau receives honorary doctorate from Hong Kong Baptist University

Andy Lau, the 64-year-old Hong Kong entertainer, has been awarded an honorary Doctorate of Literature by Hong Kong Baptist University. The honor recognizes his significant artistic achievements and contributions to society.

This marks the second honorary doctorate for Lau, following a similar degree from Shue Yan University in 2017. During the ceremony, university officials praised his professional journey, describing him as a “legend who started from nothing,” while highlighting his humility, philanthropic work, and support for younger generations.

Lau’s career, which began in 1981 with TVB, includes over 100 Cantonese and Mandarin albums with global sales exceeding 48 million copies. He holds a Guinness World Record as the most awarded Cantopop singer, with nearly 500 music awards, and has appeared in more than 160 films.
