Andy Lau to executive produce film adaptation of stage play

Actor Andy Lau will serve as executive producer for the film adaptation of the acclaimed stage play ‘The Story of the Turtle’s Return’. After attending the play and being moved by its heartwarming script, Lau decided to invest in bringing the production to the big screen.

Directed by Aukin @, the film is scheduled to begin filming in November and is targeting a release during the 2027 Lunar New Year season. The production will feature the original stage cast, including award-winning actors Leung Chung-hang and Wu Li-ying, as well as Lokman, Yuen Siu-yi, and Wong Yiu-cho.

The story follows a long-time family pet, an old turtle, that appears in a fantasy-style ‘return night’ to help the family heal from emotional trauma and resolve long-standing misunderstandings. While Lau is heavily involved in the production, he will focus on his role as executive producer due to his upcoming 20-show concert series in December.
