Andy López Beltrán and Jorge Amílcar Olán accused of cancer drug irregularities

Parent collectives representing children with cancer have filed a formal complaint with Mexico’s Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) against Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, known as “Andy,” and businessman Jorge Amílcar Olán Aparicio. The groups, including Movimiento Nacional por la Salud de Niños con Cáncer, Fundación Nicoatole A. C., and De Corazón A. C., are alleging crimes including genocide, organized crime, and involuntary manslaughter.

The complaint alleges irregularities in the procurement and distribution of oncological medications, including overpricing and the acquisition of ineffective or counterfeit drugs. Advocates claim that systematic shortages and low-quality treatments have contributed to the deaths of more than 5,000 children across various regions.

Furthermore, the organizations pointed to Jorge Amílcar Olán and his company, Romedic S. A. de C. V., alleging they received multimillion-dollar direct contracts through the former Instituto de Salud para el Bienestar (Insabi). The complainants also called for investigations into potential retaliation against medical personnel who attempted to report these irregularities.
