Andy López Beltrán meets with José Cuervo director Beckmann
A meeting in Mexico City's Condesa neighborhood between Andy López Beltrán and Juan Domingo Beckmann, director of the José Cuervo conglomerate, has raised questions within the tequila company. The encounter, which reportedly lasted approximately five hours at the Magazzino restaurant, included Andy López Beltrán, his brother Gonzalo López Beltrán, and former presidential aide Daniel Asaf.
Beckmann, who serves on President Claudia Sheinbaum's Economic Development Advisory Council, was joined by technology executive Mauricio Garduño. The choice of a public restaurant in La Condesa rather than the private facilities at José Cuervo's Santa Fe headquarters has sparked speculation. Some theories suggest the meeting could be related to Andy López Beltrán's personal affairs in the United States, including his property in New York, while others suggest it may have been a casual encounter.
Within the José Cuervo corporate structure, there is concern regarding how such interactions might be perceived by U.S. agencies, given the company's significant business interests and its subsidiary, Proximo Spirits, in the United States.
