Andy Warhol's Works Set Record and Spark Krakow Exhibition

Andy Warhol's 1964 portrait "Shot Sage Blue Marilyn" sold at Christie's in New York for $195.04 million, establishing a new record for a 20th‑century artwork and overtaking Pablo Picasso's previous high. The rapid four‑minute auction on 9 May 2022 highlighted the painting's iconic status and its place in Warhol's series of Marilyn silkscreen images.

At the same time, the Palace of Art in Krakow, Poland, opened a major exhibition titled "Andy Warhol. From Line to Legend," showcasing a broad selection of the pop‑art pioneer’s work and drawing attention to his lasting influence on contemporary culture.
