Andy Weil to join Amazon MGM Studios as Head of Comedy
Andy Weil, a veteran comedy development executive, is leaving Netflix to join Amazon MGM Studios as the Head of Comedy TV. Weil, who spent over 11 years at Netflix, will officially begin his new role on September 14.
Weil will report to Peter Friedlander, the Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios. Friedlander, who was previously Weil's boss at Netflix, announced the hire in an internal memo, praising Weil's creative instincts and proven track record in identifying standout series.
During his tenure at Netflix, Weil was involved in the development of several prominent series, including ‘Master of None’, ‘Black Mirror’, ‘Bojack Horseman’, and ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’. Prior to his time at Netflix, Weil held a leadership role at Universal Television.
