Andøya Spaceport to receive 646.6 million NOK for new launch pad
The Norwegian government has proposed allocating 323.3 million NOK in the 2027 state budget for a new rocket launch pad at Andøya Spaceport, with an additional 323.3 million NOK planned for 2028. The total investment of 646.6 million NOK over two years aims to increase capacity at the facility.
Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie T. Myrseth stated that the spaceport has become a strategic resource for Norway and Europe due to the current security policy reality. The new pad will be built by Forsvarsbygg near the existing facility in Børvågen. Under the plan, the state will own the pad, while Andøya Spaceport will lease it through a long-term agreement. The military will be responsible for securing the area surrounding the spaceport. Current capacity is reportedly fully utilized by Isar Aerospace and its customers.
